Cosy Cushions to make in winter

Cushions Galore, February 2012 -- Cosy Cushions

February 1st 2012

Hello and welcome to new subscribers in February.

First of all I would like to say Happy New Year to you all. I know it is late but this is my first newsletter of the New Year. I hope 2012 is good for you.

After all the excitement during the Christmas and New Year season, January can feel a little bit flat, your home could look a little bare after the decorations have been taken down, but it is also a great time to settle down and catch up with a few jobs or learn a new skill that you have always wanted to achieve.

This can be done with cushion making as well, if over the festive season you either didn't have time to make or found that you wanted to make an item for your room or table, now is the time to get that done so it is ready for this year. I know it is very early to be thinking of Christmas 2012 but in sewing terms it is best to get it done when you have the time and winter evenings are just right.

I am in the middle of building up stock of things to sell at my next craft fair even though I don't know when that will be.

Winter is also a great time to learn a new skill or put a skill to use in making a new cushion or two. Patchwork is a different way of sewing either by hand or machine and is a good example. Pull out all your left over material and try creating a design that you like.

February is a month for romantics with Valentines day and this year there is an extra day as 2012 is a leap year.

Little heart tokens could be made to give to your sweetheart with love messages attached. This could then be hung up to remind them all year round.

New pages this month

Although I did not write a newsletter in January I was still adding more pages.

I have expanded by page on Patchwork and will include other pages to show how to sew some different patchwork patterns.

There is a page on Animal Cushions and also one on Cat Cushions.

Previously I had a page about Christmas and now this along with other special days can be found on my page about Seasonal cushions. This month I have included one about Valentines Day.

Coming up next time

Next month I hope to have done some more pages on some different patchwork designs and a seasonal page about Easter.

Enjoy making your cushions.
