Christmas Greetings

Cushions Galore, December 2013-- Christmas Greetings

December 22nd 2013

Hello and welcome to new subscribers in December.

Firstly I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and best wishes for 2014.

The run up to Christmas is a lovely time to start planning anything you need to make for the day. Adorning the tree with new ornaments, making new tableware or decorations to hang around your home. As these take time to make it is always best to start early. I usually see what I am missing in December and then plan to start sewing in January when the weather is not all that great. Whether I get it all done depends on how the year begins.

Present wrapping can be done with fabric and ribbon instead of paper and these can be recycled from year to year.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

New pages this month

There have been a few new pages since the last newsletter. A couple of pages regarding ribbon have been published both from queries on making a cushion with just ribbon and the steps needed for the tumbling block effect that was shown on one of the cushions in my Cushion Gallery. The blocks page was a good learning curve as I had never done anything like that before.

I was also asked to review a cushion from a retailer and that was also good experience. https://www.cushionsandmore.com/ready-made.html

There are still a few pages that have been published without pictures and work is on hand to rectify this. The Ohio Star patchwork page was the first to be enhanced with some pictures.

The log cabin patchwork page was also made. While taking pictures of the blocks I had made, I seemed to get a little carried away. This resulted in another page of making a patchwork quilt, https://www.cushionsandmore.com/making-a-patchwork-quilt.html.

A recent visit to my daughters house gave me the idea for a page for making a draught excluder, https://www.cushionsandmore.com/draught-excluder.html. I sometimes stretch the cushion theme and after all these are a type of floor/door cushion aren't they.

Coming up next time

I want to continue to improve on the pictures over the next few months and will try to enhance the sail boat patchwork page and the pages for circular cushions and the patterns for those.

I feel that my appliqué page needs a page to show how this is done.

Enjoy making your cushions.
