Stepping out to Spring

Cushions Galore, April 12th 2014

Hello and welcome to new subscribers in the first few months of 2014

Don't you just love this time of year when the weather is improving, especially after the ton of rain we, in the UK, have had and thoughts go out to those still in the midst of clearing up after the floods.

Spring is a great time for decorating, mending, planting and embracing the new growth and new changes. As the weather improves it is also worth mentioning that pillows and cushion pads could do with a spring clean as well. This cleaning should be done every six months to revitalise the cushions.

The vibrant colours and prints can be brought into the house to celebrate the changing seasons whether you live in the northern or southern hemisphere.

Celebrations can be enhanced in Spring with Birthdays, Weddings, Christenings and these can bring a host of new ideas.

New pages

There have been a few new pages since the last newsletter. This winter I have concentrated on getting some more patchwork blocks done such as Bow Tie, Dutchman's Puzzle and Roman Pin wheel.

These where then made into quilts, using the different patchwork blocks or just using the log cabin design in a different quilt.

There are still a few pages that have been published without pictures and work is on hand to rectify this. The round pattern page was enhanced with some pictures.

Another shape of cushion was introduced which is the versatile Rectangular shape.

A wedding bunting page was done when I came across some fabric that reminded me of the Spring colours and to show that there are different twists to the same theme.

Coming up next time

I want to continue to improve on the pictures over the next few months and will try to enhance the page for circular cushions.

I feel that some pages are need more substance to them such as my appliqué page and to show how to make a wall hanging from the Sail boat patchwork block.

Enjoy making your cushions.
